Description
The shell inlaid mahogany case with inset hygrometer, thermometer, 12 inch circular silvered and engraved register and spirit level below and architectural pediment with ivory roundel and central brass urn. Original condition

Manticha family were leading Italian immigrant barometer makers, the most noted being DOMINICK MANTICHA recorded as working from Ely Court, Holborn from late 18th to early 19th century. Ref: Nicholas Goodison, English Barometers 1680-1860
