Georgian Mahogany Collector’s Cabinet – SOLD

A rare Georgian mahogany collector’s cabinet circa 1775.

Description

The upper section with fine balustrade gallery above a two door cabinet. The lower section with a secretaire door enclosing pigeon holes and drawers with baize writing surface above four drawers, all oak lined and retain original handles, on bracket feet.

Aspects of the cabinet work are similar to those found on Chippendale furniture at Dumfries House, such as red wash on the underside and laminating blocking of the bracket feet.
