A fine 18th century mahogany lunar dial longcase clock by John Kaye, Dale Street, Liverpool circa 1775
Description
The 8-day movement with 13in x 19in moon phase arch dial in a fine flame mahogany case. Having an eight-column hood with swan-neck pediment and painted panels above a glazed arched door; on long trunk with reed quarter columns and brickwork base. The arch brass dial with silvered engraved centre with seconds dial is also engraved with place names from around the world to show the corresponding times in these cities. The clock would have been made for an important Liverpool merchant.
