A fine pair Regency rosewood POLESCREENS circa 1815
Description
Each needlework screen within carved frames on adjustable brass poles on acanthus carved fluted supports and tri-form bases.

Attributed to Gillows of Lancaster & London 1730-1840
Adjustable screens such as these were much used to protect people from the direct heat of the fire, particularly as cosmetics used then had a high wax content and would easily melt!
