Provenance: Believed to be from Knocklofty, Clonmel, Co Tiperary, the ancestral home to the Earls of Donoughmore. John Hely-Hutchinson, 7th Earl was famously kidnapped from Knocklofty in June 1974 with his wife Dorothy by the IRA and held for a week as political hostages. The family sold the house in 1984.
