A rare 18th century Gainsborough Armchair in padouk circa 1768


The square back and seat upholstered in damask between two down-swept arm rests on cabriole legs at front and back.

Similar in style to chairs for a large suite of furniture made for Hopetoun House in 1767-68 by James Cullen, London
