A fine rare late 18th century mahogany longcase clock by John Russell, Falkirk circa 1785
Description
The 8-day movement with arch dial in a mahogany case. The hood with swan-neck pediment and fretted decoration above a glazed arched door with columns; on long trunk with reeded quarter columns and moulded base on bracket feet. The arch brass and engraved silvered dial date aperture and engraved spandrels and makers name within the arch.

John RUSSELL 1745-1817 was a highly respected clock and watchmaker who rose to become watchmaker to HRH the Prince Regent, later George IV
